    • From Rootsweb: Rites Held for John Boudreau - Purcell Resident for 56 Years The Purcell Register - August 21, 1947 John H. Boudreau, 66, resident of Purcell for the past 56 years, died here Saturday afternoon at the McCurdy Clinic. He had been in ill health since he suffered a stroke more than a year ago. Last rites were conducted on Tuesday morning at 9 o'clock in Our Lady of Victory church, with the Father Louis Hugo officiating. Interment was made in Hillside cemetery under the direction of the Yoakum funeral home. Born in Kansas on Nov. 3, 1880, he moved to Purcell with his parents in 1891. He married Miss Rosanna Marcott on June 11, 1900 and during the last 26 years had been employed by the McElderry Grocery. He was a member of the Forrester and Eagle lodges. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Rosanna Boudreau of home address; two sons, Phillip and Andrew Boudreau, both of Purcell; four daughters, Mrs. Helena Brinkle, Purcell; Mrs. Genevie Schumaker, Lexington; Mrs. Pauline Bergschneider, Duncan; Mrs. Vera Naeher, Oklahoma City; two brothers, Homer Boudreau, Purcell; Albert Boudreau, Oklahoma City; four sisters, Miss Alda Boudreau and Mrs. Mary Williams, both of Purcell; Mrs. Rose Sullins, Pampa, Texas; and Mrs. Carrie Beumler, Oklahoma City. Active casket bearers were: Neil McElderry, John H. Wells, Ed Price, Jim Fenelin, Dolphus Dumas, and M. B. Larran. Honorary bearers were: Louis Groothouse, Clarence Angel, Reginald Walker, Walter Adamson, Don Cook, Lawson Harrison, Guy Northcutt, and Will Talley.

      GRISHAM RITES Set for Today

      Funeral services for Mrs. Martha Ellen Grisham, 78, will be help today,
      (Thursday), at 10 o'clock at the First Baptise church, Purcell, with Rev.
      Wayne Pearson officiating. She died Tuesday at the McCurdy Memorial hospital.

      Born at Whitfield, Indian Territory, she was married to the late William
      A. Grisham and lived in the Wannette community, and in McClain County most
      of her life. She was a member of the Baptist Church.

      Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Edyth White and Mrs. Artie Jones,
      both of Purcell; a sister Mrs. Beaulah Mann, Kilgore, Texas; a brother
      Eulis Grisham, Okemiah; a sister, Mrs. J.R. Dunn, Purcell; five grandchildren
      and eight grand children.

      Casket bearers will be Walter Adamson, Marlin Shephard, D.D. Rose, Elbert
      Gallamore, C.H. Jones, Wilson Laurent, and Jack Skinner.

      Interment will be in the Wannette cemetary under the direction of the Connor-Roberts
      funeral home.
      note: Martha Ellen is the daughter of the late, Albert Gataton McCarty
      and Miranda Artie DeShane.

      CHAPPELL, J. The plaintiff in error, hereinafter called defendant, was convicted in the district court of Marshall county on a charge of assault with intent to kill and his punishment fixed by a jury at imprisonment for five years in the reformatory at Granite. It is from this conviction that he appeals.
      The evidence of the state reveals that on the 30th day of January, 1927, the date of the commission of this crime, the defendant and one Orville Brown attended a party

      at the home of Bud Hattock; that during the early part of the evening the defendant came into the house and up to where Brown was sitting and asked him if he had not told certain parties that he (the defendant) was afraid of Walter Adamson; that the prosecuting witness, Brown, admitted that he had, and the defendant said, "You are a God damn liar." Whereupon the prosecuting witness grabbed the defendant and a short fight ensued, and they were separated by other persons at the party.
      There was no other mention of Walter in this case.

      Walter had at least one other grandchild at the time of his death - Karen Sladowski.
