Mr. Voiles was killed instantly about 3:30 p.m. Friday, July 21, four miles west of Carrollton on Route 108, when his car skidded on the wet pavement after a severe rain storm and crashed into a concrete abutment. Alone in the automobile, he was coming into town from his farm home. A life-long resident of this area, Mr. Voiles was born March 22, 1906 at Carrollton, a son of Marshall and Cora Darr Voiles. He was married to the former Gladys Brooks, September 24, 1932, at Jerseyville, and she survives. In addition to his wife, he leaves three sisters: Mrs. Helen Wolfley of Florissant, Mo., Mrs. James Benner and Mrs. Faye Crabtree of Eldred. His twin brother, William P. Voiles, died April 3 this year after suffering a heart attack. Also surviving are a half-brother, Manford Logan of Mt. Vernon; three half-sisters: Mrs. Imogene Chevalley of Alton, and Mrs. Harland Shannon and Mrs. Lawrence Koster of Carrollton; a step-sister, Mrs. Zelma Folger of Madison, N.J., and three step-brothers: Roy J. Logan and George Logan Jr. of Eldred, and Otis Logan of Roxana. One step-sister and one half-brother preceded him in death.
